Halong is located in the tropical monsoon region, so the climate is also divided into 4 distinct seasons:

  • March – April (Spring): The climate is cool and pleasant. Temperature fluctuates between 19 – 30 degrees.
  • May – August (Summer): Halong summer with typical high temperatures ranging from 34 – 35 degrees. This weather is very suitable for activities to explore Halong such as swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, etc. In particular, May – June is considered the best time to travel to Halong Bay. However, during this period, there are often sudden rains and occasional storms.
  • September – November (Autumn): This is considered a short but very beautiful period in Halong. The average temperature this season is about 27 degrees Celsius, the air is cool and pleasant, and the sun is golden.
  • December – February (Winter): Dry weather, little rain, favorable for participating in tourist activities. However, during this period the climate is relatively cold, and at some times fog will appear. So you need to prepare appropriate clothes.
